May

Oh dear! (as what one of my students is always telling.)

I can't believe it is May already. In the PreK room, we are learning and having so much fun.

We continue learning about numbers and letters. We do activities that helps them to recognize the numbers and letters.

We talked about Spring, Earth Day and Recycling. They learned how to sort things. Things that go to the garbage and things that can still be recycled. They have their own fair share in keeping Mother Earth healthy and clean.

As part of their activity, they planted Marigolds. They loved it and enjoyed it so much, that every time they go to school, they tell me that their plants are growing.

As a Mother's Day activity, we also made a special egg carton flower in a pot. They are very excited because they are going to give this flower to their mother. It says, "I love you everyday, Mommy!"

I would like to wish all mothers out there a "Happy Mother's Day!"

April

April is here! Spring is here! It is pretty amazing how time flies so fast. We are enjoying so much all of the activities that we are doing in PreK. I am glad that you had a wonderful spring break.

We started the month by talking about Spring, the animals, flowers and others that they can see in Spring. We are mostly doing spring arts and crafts like caterpillar pompom, Q-tip Cherry blossom tree, hand print flower pot, thumbprint arts and many more.

We are going to have a book fair and everyone is invited to look and of course buy the books that they will find interesting.

We continue doing our number and alphabet activities. They now know the basics like counting 1-10 and the letters A-Z.

I am looking forward for more enjoyable activities.

Reminder:

* April 13 - Wear PINK (in support of Bullying Awareness)
* April 22 - Earth Day Wear any earth colors
* April 25 - 29 - Milk Spirit Week

Even if it is spring, we are still experiencing winter weather, May sure you dress appropriately.

Thank you.

March

March is already here!  The Pre-K's are having a really good time learning and having fun.

We had a wonderful time at our Valentine’s Day party.  We play, had snacks, made “butterfly hearts” and handed out our Valentines that we made for each other.
February was “I Love to Read” month. One of their favorite activities from “I Love to Read” month was getting to go to the gym and read with the whole school.  They did such a good job staying quiet and reading “in their head” as we called it.

They are so into arts and crafts. One of the crafts that we made is the rice and egg shell pictures. They loved the sprinkling part, where they will be sprinkling the colored rice and egg shell over the picture. One of them even commented that "it was cool." I am really happy that they are enjoying.
We will be doing more unique arts and crafts like salt painting, painting with ice and others. We are also continuously learning about numbers. We will also continue discussing about lent, St. Patrick's Day, Easter and spring. I am definitely sure that this month would be another fun but busy month.

**Important Reminders:

·         Friday, Mar. 4  – Registration Packages due

·         Wednesday, Mar. 16 – Wear something green (St. Patrick's Day celebration)

·         Friday, Mar. 18 – No School

·         March 28 to April 4 – Spring Break

Thank you and Take Care!

February

February is a pretty busy month but it will surely be full of fun and learning in Pre-K!
First, on February 10th Ash Wednesday, it marks the beginning of Lent. We will be talking about Lent and why it is important for the Church.

Second, February is “I Love to Read” month!  In honour of this, I would like each student to bring in their favourite story book to share with the class.  I will take turns reading the books as the students bring them in.

Please follow this schedule:
Fri. Feb. 5th ~ Blair
Wed. Feb. 10th ~ Huxley
Wed. Feb. 17th ~ James
Fri. Feb. 19th ~ Tony
Wed. Feb. 24th ~ Blair and Huxley
Fri. Feb. 26th ~ James and Tony

Third, it is also Valentine’s Day this month.  The Pre-K’s will be having their Valentine’s Day Party on Wed. Feb. 10th.  We will hand out Valentines and do Valentines themed activities.  Please have your child make three (3) Valentines with ONLY his/her name on it.  This will make it easier when the children pass them out as they cannot read one another’s names.

**Important Reminders:
·         Wednesday, Feb. 10 ~ Valentine’s Day Party
 ·         Friday, Feb. 12 ~ No School
·         Friday, Feb. 26 ~ Wear a t-shirt you can read!

        Thank you!
