February

It is the month of Love! Love! Love!

In the Pre-Kindergarten classroom, we will be sharing a lot of love. They will be very busy doing some valentine crafts for preschoolers like painting, cutting, hand print valentine crafts and a lot more. We will definitely be having so much fun.

We are also continuously learning alphabets and numbers, familiarizing with uppercase and lowercase letters as well as with numbers.

February is also the month where we celebrate awareness for the love for reading. It is "I LOVE TO READ MONTH!" We will be reading books of their choice.

To spread awareness, I would like to ask each student to bring two books – one is their favorite book that we will be reading during carpet circle time. I will take turn reading the books as the students bring them in. While the other one is a book that they can donate to our Pre-K library. It will be a big help to add more books in our collection and the good thing about it is they can share their donated book to other kids in the future. The book should be still be in good condition.

Please follow this schedule:
February 10, Friday – Jannah and Roseheart
February 15, Wednesday – Isabel and Raven
February 22, Wednesday – Aldea and Parteek
February 24, Friday – Blair and Lorenzo

March 1, Wednesday – Winston and Esther

We will be looking forward for wonderful activities together.

Reminders:

  • February 12 - St. Gerard School Mass at 11:00 am. Everyone is invited to attend the school mass.
  • February 14 - Valentines Day - Family Lunch. All Parents and kids are invited to attend this family lunch. You can bring your own food. Lunch will start at 12:00 noon.

HAPPY NEW YEAR! WELCOME 2017!

I hope that every one have had a wonderful Christmas break.

I just wanted to thank all of you for having participated in our Christmas Concert. It was a huge success and I am just so proud of my Pre-Kindergartens because they were not afraid of getting into the stage and singing in front of so many people. I would also like to thank all of my parent volunteers, they've been so helpful. Your help is truly appreciated.

In the first week of our classes, we had experienced extreme cold temperatures and we just have to remember to dress appropriately for this kind of weather.  We are talking about Winter, discussed proper clothes to wear, food to eat, and animals found in the cold areas. We also shared a cup of hot chocolate to warm our tummys, they loved it so much!.

During playtime, they love running and playing the dodgeball. It is a good way to enhance their skills.

We will continuously be doing winter crafts, learning new songs and dances, learning more about alphabets, numbers, opposites and other stuff. We will be looking forward for more fruitful and wonderful activities.

Thank you and Keep Warm!

December 2016

It is so hard to believe that we are already in the month of December. It is the season of Advent and Christmas. Advent means “coming” of Jesus Christ.  During the Advent season we are anticipating and preparing for the arrival of Jesus Christ.  Most of the activities are focused on Advent and Christmas.  We will sing Christmas songs, make Christmas crafts, talk about the birth of Jesus Christ and much more!
We have already been busy practicing our song for the Christmas Concert on the evening of Thursday, December 15th.  We are very excited to stand on stage and share it with our families.  Please have your child dressed in their “Sunday Best” clothes for the concert.  Alongside with their Sunday Best clothes, they will be wearing angel wings and halo. The Pre-K’s will meet in the library and they need to be there at 6:30 pm.

November 2016

The month of October went on really, really fast. The Family Halloween Party was so successful. Pre-Kindergarten had the most wonderful night. They dance, sing, play and dance till the very end. We really had an awesome and SPOOKTACULAR evening. We made wonderful arts for the Halloween like candy corn and silhouette of a cat and bat; but the most beautiful one is the Mummy. I am just so proud of the things that they are doing.
We will be starting our first class in November with a Picture day. We will take individual pictures and a class picture. We will also talk about Remembrance Day and Peace. This month we will be very busy making arts and crafts for Remembrance day. Also, we will finish doing our fall coloring pages and a few fall crafts.

October 2016

In the first few weeks of prekindergarten classes, we spent time talking about rules and practicing the routines. They know it very well that even I don't speak and just show my cardboard signal, they would do what is asked of them to do. They know how to organize things/toys by putting it back to where it belongs. We have been also having a lot of fun and we are busy learning so many things. We talked about calendar, weather and seasons. We learned about shapes and colors and did a few activities. We sing and we dance. Children were also doing a lot of coloring. Going to the gym is one of their favorite time of the afternoon. They love to run, and play "What time is it, Mr. Wolf?".

This month our theme is focused on Fall and Thanksgiving. We will be doing a lot of activities about fall and thanksgiving. We will discussed things that we should be thankful for.

Our theme for the next few weeks is going to be Halloween.  We will be having a Halloween theme party of October 28 (Friday). NO COSTUMES PLEASE.  However, the Pre-K’s can wear orange and black to our party. The children are welcome to bring a snack for themselves as they usually do. We are going to have a Spooktacular time.

A few quick reminders:
*   Please send a healthy snack with your child for snack time. Thank you to those parents who already did.
     *  Families are invited to purchase tickets to attend the Halloween Family Party on Saturday, October 15th - at which time everyone is welcome to come dressed in costume.
     *   Friday, October 21st, there is NO SCHOOL.
     *   Wednesday, November 2th is Picture Day.

We have had an excellent start of the year and I hope that the Pre-K’s are having as much fun as I am so far this school year. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at school or speak with me before or after class.

I would also like to thank the parents who willingly shares their time in volunteering. It is very much appreciated.

Thank you and take care!

Oh my! Where did those ten months go?

It is so hard to believe that we only have seven meetings left in the school calendar. The pre-kindergarten's are having so much fun. They've learned a lot of stuff which includes their alphabets, upper and lower case, numbers, colors, and shapes. They also did a variety of arts and crafts for different occasions. They love coloring and painting. They love going to the gym and do stuff like running, kicking and catching a ball, jumping and hopping.

In the next seven meetings we will continue to practice our alphabets and numbers. And we still have one father's day art and craft to do. At the last day of classes, we are going to have a little farewell party to end this school year. We'll say good-bye to those who are ready for Kindergarten and still welcome those who will be staying in Prekindergarten.

I am very much delighted to having taught these kids, they are all so cute and adorable.

Reminders:

* June 2 - Family Barbeque Day and Uniform Sale
* June 22 - Final Day of Pre-Kindergarten

Thank you and Happy Summer!
