December

It’s hard to believe but we are already in the month of December and the season of Advent.  Advent means “coming” or “arrival”.  During the Advent season we are anticipating and preparing for the arrival of Jesus Christ.  This month our activities will focus on Advent and Christmas.  We will sing Christmas songs, make Christmas crafts, talk about the birth of Jesus Christ and much more!

We have already been busy practicing our song for the Christmas Concert on the evening of Thursday, December 18th.  We are very excited to stand on stage and share it with our families.  Please have your child dressed in their “Sunday Best” clothes for the concert.  The Pre-K’s will meet in the library and they need to be there for 6:30pm.

On Wednesday, December 17th we will be decorating ice cream cone Christmas trees.  We may get a little messy working with green icing on this day so please dress your child appropriately.  We will be using our paint smocks to stay as clean as possible but sometimes they just aren’t enough.

**Reminders:

·         Thursday, December 17th at 7:00pm - Christmas Concert.  Pre-K’s need to be in the Library at 6:30.

·         Friday, December 19th – 2:30 Early Dismissal

·         December 22 to January 4th – Christmas Break

·         January 7th - Pre-K’s first day back after the Christmas Break

Thank you,

Mrs. Shade

November

October is over and we had a SPOOKTACULAR time at our Halloween party.  The Pre-K’s really enjoyed getting to paint a pumpkin to take home with them.

We started our first Pre-K class of November with Picture Day!  We took individual pictures and a class picture.  We talked about Remembrance Day and peace and made paper plate poppies.  This month we will be busy learning about Peace, we will start learning about winter and we will even begin preparing for the Christmas Concert coming up on Dec. 18th.

**Reminders:

·         Please remember to have your child use the bathroom before our class begins.

·         Friday, November 21st – No School

·         Friday, November 28th – No School

·         Sunday, November 30th – First Sunday of Advent

·         Thursday, December 18th – Christmas Concert

Take care and stay warm,

Mrs. Shade

September & October

Wow!  Where has the time gone?  It’s hard to believe that it is already Halloween on Friday!  We have been having a lot of fun over the past month and a half and have been very busy with our learning.  We have been making different arts and crafts, practicing our ABC’s and tracing our names.  We have been learning about numbers and colours and we have spent a lot of time talking about Fall and the different changes that happen during this season.  We also spent some time talking about Thanksgiving and made our own turkeys.  We even became turkeys when we put our homemade turkey hats on and played “All Turkey’s in the Nest” when we went to the gym.  Going to the gym is one of the Pre-K’s favourite parts of the afternoon.  We have learned lots of new games in the gym with two of their favourites being “Red Light, Green Light” and “What Time is it Mr. Wolf?”

This week our theme is going to be Halloween.  We will be painting mini pumpkins on Wednesday and having our Halloween party on Friday.  NO COSTUMES PLEASE.  However, the Pre-K’s can wear orange and black to our party on Friday.  We are going to have a SPOOKTACULAR time!

**A few quick reminders:

·         Please send a healthy snack with your child for snack time.  Thank you to those parents that already do that.

·         Please try to have your child use the bathroom before our class begins.

·         Wednesday, November 5th is Picture Day.

·         Friday, November 7th there is No School.

We have had an excellent start to our year and I hope the Pre-K’s are having as much fun as I am so far this school year!  If you have any questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to contact me at the school or speak with me before or after class.

Thank you and take care,

Mrs. Shade
