The Pre-K’s will meet in the library and they need to be there at 6:30 pm. Please do come on time.

November

October went on really, really fast. The Family Halloween Party was so successful. Pre-Kindergarten had the most wonderful night. They wore their most awesome costumes. We really had an awesome and SPOOKTACULAR evening. We made some amazing art for the Halloween like mummies, pumpkin faces and painting of a bat. I am just so proud of the things Pre-Kindergarten is doing.

We will be starting our first class in November with a Picture day. We will take individual pictures and a class picture. We will also talk about Remembrance Day and Peace. This month we will be very busy making arts and crafts for Remembrance day. Slowly, we are learning our numbers, letters and patterns.

In a few weeks, we will start learning about winter. Little by little we will learn about alphabets. And also we will begin preparing for the Christmas concert coming up on December 21st. I will be sending copy of the song that we will be singing.

Reminders:
·Please remember to have your child use the bathroom before our class begins.
Please let them wear appropriate clothing like snow pants, winter jacket, boots, mitts and scarves. There will be times that we will go outside and play in the snow.

We are learning about colors and did a few activities. about colors. We sing and we dance. Children were also doing a lot of coloring. Going to the gym is one of their favorite time of the afternoon. They love to run, and play the dodge ball.

This month our theme is focused on Fall and Thanksgiving. We will be doing a lot of activities about fall and thanksgiving. We will discussed things that we should be thankful for.

June

Where did those ten wonderful months go?

The Prekindergarten are having the best of their times. It is so hard to believe that we only have six meetings left in the school calendar. We have so much fun. It also seems that we have tried everything. They've learned a lot of stuff which includes their alphabets, upper and lower case, numbers, colors, and shapes. They also did a variety of arts and crafts for different occasions. They love coloring, painting, cutting, dabbing, and building stuff with blocks. They love going to the gym and playing in the play structure. They did stuff like running, kicking and catching a ball, jumping, hopping and exercising.

In the next six meetings we will continue to practice our alphabets and numbers to improve letter and number recognition. And we still have one father's day art and craft to do.
Almost all of the Prekindergarten are ready to be in Kindergarten. I am so happy and proud of what they have become. I am very much delighted to having taught the Pre-K's this year. It is wonderful to see their growth and how much progress they made throughout the school year. I would also like to thank all the parents who volunteered in the classroom, your help is very much appreciated. It is so nice to see parent - volunteers in action.
Reminders:

* June 8 - Family Barbeque Day and Uniform Sale

* June 21 - Last Day of Pre-Kindergarten / Farewell Celebration

On the last day of Prekindergarten, families are welcome to join us for a small farewell celebration in the classroom. We will start by sharing all the things we have learned over the school year. Students will also get a certificate of completion. We will definitely have fun and still learn at the same time. We will have little party. I hope to see all of our families.

Thank you and Happy Summer!

May

In The Eyes Of A Child, Mother Is God. - Poem by Daya Nandan
Mom, I love you so very much,
You raised me with care and your loving touch,
Mother, you truly have a golden heart,
You walked me through my first steps for my life to start,

You were always there for me, you gave me the best,
My Mother i know and love, greatest woman from the rest
, You watched me grow as time slowly stole your strength and youth,
And yet you hid your troubles from me, never revealing the truth,

You are truly a gift from god above,
You shower your children with your indescribable love,
To me and my brother did you successfully give birth,
Without you and Dad we would not be on this earth,

You gave up everything just to raise your young child,
You gave the best for me, took bullets for me and yet you cheerfully smiled,
You thought me so much, with all your knowledge so broad,
I understand now why that in the eyes of a child that mother is God.

May is the month for mothers. As a special gift to their mothers, we made a craft with a little poem about mothers with their handprints. It is a little gift for their mothers to treasure and to hold.

We still continue to learn about numbers and letters. We do activities that helps them to recognize the numbers and letters. They love to play the dice number games. Instead of playing in the gym, we are already playing outside to get some fresh air and enjoying the beautiful weather.

We still talked about Spring. And most likely we will be talking about the Earth we lived in and also will be learning about Recycling. They will learn how to sort things. The things that will go to the garbage and things that can still be recycled. They have their own fair share in keeping Mother Earth healthy and clean.

I would like to wish all mothers out there a "Happy Mother's Day!"

Also, on May 25th at 6:00p.m., we are going to have a special dinner for all volunteers who shared their time and effort. I would like to thank for all that you do.

Reminders:

May 12 - No school Inservice Day

Thank you very much!

April

Spring Song
Sung to: "Are You Sleeping?"
I see robins, I see bird's nests
Butterflies too, flowers too
Everything is growing
The wind is gently blowing
Spring is here, spring is here.

This is the most awaited season of the Pre-k's. They love to talk about spring - the flowers, trees, insects and almost everything about Spring. We, in the Pre-kindergarten will be learning about Spring and we are going to learn little facts about it. We are also going to learn about the different animals and insects you can see during Spring time. We also would like to learn about plants.

Spring also marks a new beginning, and we are also going to do more spring and Easter arts and crafts. We are continuously learning our letters and numbers. The Pre-K's little hands are very busy making and learning different stuff.

Another thing to look forward is the St. Gerard Talent Show. We will be showcasing the students' different talents.

We are very excited for this month.

March

March here we come!  The Pre-K's are having a really good time learning and having fun.
We had a wonderful time during the Festival du Voyageur.  We play, we participated with the activities like the Portage/ Piggy back Ride, Tug-of-War (they had so much fun when they won against Miss Gilbert), enjoyed the Storytelling with Mrs. Pelleck, the Bead making with Miss Logan, the Dress Up Photo shoot with Mrs. Shade, the Canoe ride with Mr. Calvo and Mrs. Courcelles and of course the Sugar shack with Mr. Deejonkheere. It was then followed with a hearty snack.
February was “I Love to Read” month. The kids loved it when they started bringing out their favorite books and shared the story to the class. They were very eager listeners.

They are so into learning about alphabet and numbers. I can say that they are really good with letters and numbers.

We will be doing more arts and crafts and also learn about the Lenten Season, St. Patrick's Day, Easter and Spring. So definitely, the prek's have so much to offer in their plate this month. I am definitely sure that this month would be another fun but busy month.

February

It is the month of Love! Love! Love!

In the Pre-Kindergarten classroom, we will be sharing a lot of love. They will be very busy doing some valentine crafts for preschoolers like painting, cutting, hand print valentine crafts and a lot more. We will definitely be having so much fun.

We are also continuously learning alphabets and numbers, familiarizing with uppercase and lowercase letters as well as with numbers.

February is also the month where we celebrate awareness for the love for reading. It is "I LOVE TO READ MONTH!" We will be reading books of their choice.

To spread awareness, I would like to ask each student to bring two books – one is their favorite book that we will be reading during carpet circle time. I will take turn reading the books as the students bring them in. While the other one is a book that they can donate to our Pre-K library. It will be a big help to add more books in our collection and the good thing about it is they can share their donated book to other kids in the future. The book should be still be in good condition.

February 15, Wednesday – Isabel and Raven
February 22, Wednesday – Aldea and Parteek

January

HAPPY NEW YEAR! WELCOME 2017!

I hope that every one have had a wonderful Christmas break.

I just wanted to thank all of you for having participated in our Christmas Concert. It was a huge success and I am just so proud of my Pre-Kindergartens because they were not afraid of getting into the stage and singing in front of so many people. I would also like to thank all of my parent volunteers, they've been so helpful. Your help is truly appreciated.

In the first week of our classes, we had experienced extreme cold temperatures and we just have to remember to dress appropriately for this kind of weather.  We are talking about Winter, discussed proper clothes to wear, food to eat, and animals found in the cold areas. We also shared a cup of hot chocolate to warm our tummys, they loved it so much!.

During playtime, they love running and playing the dodgeball. It is a good way to enhance their skills.

We will continuously be doing winter crafts, learning new songs and dances, learning more about alphabets, numbers, opposites and other stuff. We will be looking forward for more fruitful and wonderful activities.

Thank you and Keep Warm!
