Hi Pre-K families!

We are well into the new year and been busy working away!  We are continuing with printing our alphabet letters along with improving our skills with cutting closer to the line and trimming edges and making our cuts more smooth.  Some of us have mastered printing our names so we will be trying to make the size a bit smaller, others are still just doing practice practice practice!

We have dance party Fridays now where we show off our dance moves...this is a favorite!  We have also been doing share sessions where we stand up in front of the class to share a story or to talk about a special toy.  Coming up we will do some Valentine's Day crafts and move onto our Arctic unit.

I look forward to the upcoming months.  Friendships are being made and we have been bonding!  I am just so proud of these kids and their wonderful hearts and seeing them blossom into the great people they are.  Keep it up guys!

Love Mrs. Kelly

Hello pre-k families!

I finally got my computer fixed!  To catch you up we have almost completed doing the uppercase alphabet.  We have been also continuing with shapes, colors and working with numbers.  We have been working on developing our fine motor skills, but also enjoying our time with song and dance.  Right now we are practicing our Christmas song for the Christmas concert.  They are so amazing at memorizing the song and actions!

There are still a couple dates available for volunteering in December and we may need a couple extras for getting ready for concert.  Can't wait!

 Prekindergarten families,

I cannot believe we have made it to the final month of school!  Where has time gone?  I have seen so much growth in your children, especially in the last few weeks.  We are mastering our names, coloring and cutting, gluing, and crafting.  Our stamina at sitting has increased at the table or on the carpet.  I am just so overwhelmed with how hard this group has worked to get where they are today!  Continue to check backpacks for notes about the upcoming final day of school.  Awesome job kids....I have never been more proud!

Hello Pre-K Families!

We are soon approaching spring!  It can't come soon enough!

We have been doing lots of table work and really improving our pencil skills and scissor work.  we have been doing more crafts now that our ability to sit at the table has gotten longer too!  as always, we have been going over alphabet, numbers, shapes, colors, and animals, but at a faster speed.

We are currently learning about arctic animals.  we go over where they live, what they eat, what are their predators, and all about the importance of camouflage!  everyone seems to really enjoy it.

Our favorite song to do in class is the ants go marching.  we all grab drums and shakers as we sing and march!

Spring break is coming quickly and i have been gathering all their work and art to be given right before spring break.

the weather is getting warmer.  hopefully we will be able to get outside soon and have some outdoor fun!

till next time,

it will be nice seeing you all back on the 8th...i've missed our fun afternoons and got lots planned for January!

Hey Pre-K families!

We welcomed a new student this week!  Our little flock grows!

In the last month we have discussed the changing weather and the switch from summer to fall...and soon to winter!  We had pictures done!  We visited the kindergarten class.  We have been polishing up our cutting and gluing with crafts.  We have been doing a letter and number of the day.  Music and dancing has also become a fun part of our day, learning new nursery rhymes or singing along with old ones.

Halloween is coming and we will be carving a pumpkin in class this week...lots of fun!  And right around the corner is Advent and Christmas!!!

Bye Bye for now!

Welcome!!!

Hope everyone has had a wonderful summer.  We have made some big changes in the library at our school which the prek-s get to enjoy!  It's nice and bright and cheerful.

We got started on Friday this past week and went over our rules of the classroom, had a little tour of the school, had a story, and even did a bit of cutting and gluing.  At circle time we learned about the calendar and weather.  We also got to play in the boat!

I look forward to a great year of fun, learning, and watching you grow.  I also look forward to lots of singing and dancing!

Happy Easter!

I hope everyone had a wonderful spring break and enjoyed a bit of time off!  Well we are in the final stretch of pre-k where we are working hard to make sure we are ready for Kindergarten this fall.

I am proud to say we have been printing our own names, we are cutting and doing worksheets independently, and we have been trying some more challenging worksheets to become more confident with our numbers, letters, and shapes, and colors.

Crafting time has been putting together our "April Showers bring May Flowers" project board.  We have been talking a bit about Spring weather and the new beginnings of baby animals, grass, leaves, flowers...and of course how the snow is finally going!

We have some fun topics coming up like farm animals and wild animals...what are the differences and similarities?  So lots of fun to still be had!  And just a reminder bingo is coming up on the 26th of April....and book fair begins the week of the 15th.  I will be taking pre-k for a peek at the book fair and writing down some of their favorites.

With the warmer weather here now we will hopefully get a chance to enjoy some of it and get to play on the play structure at the end of each of our days!

Until next month!

Happy New Year, Happy Valentine's Day!

We are back at it in pre-k....we went full force into letters, colors, shapes, and also are learning about some Arctic animals.  We have went over what keeps us warm.  We have enjoyed making our own musical instruments.  And, we have learning about how to be a good friend.  We have reached a point where we can say our alphabet confidently, numbers up to 10, we have started adding some new shapes to our learning, and I am so proud of the girls!!!!!  We have been doing lots of practicing and can now even print our own names...no tracing!  I am so excited to see what progress these girls make in the upcoming months!

Hello little families!

What a strange month we have had in April.  With only a handful of days that we went to school in April so there just wasn't too much to report.  I hope everyone enjoyed their spring break, and hopefully you got to enjoy a bit of family time on our snow days!  And Happy Easter!

On the days we went to school, we have been working in our number of the day books.  We have been learning new nursery rhymes that we act out with our puppets.  We became engineers on our science day and built bridges and cities out of blocks and popsicle sticks.  When we are not busy working on worksheets we have been learning how to work as a team doing puzzles together, we have been learning about each other at circle time, and of course, we always finish our day on a high note with some fun songs and dancing!

We are in the last chunk of our pre k days...so crazy to see the changes in all of you.  There has been some amazing progress in your printing, cutting, gluing, following directions, working together and learning to share.  I am just so proud of you guys....we have had an incredible journey thus far!

Happy Mother's Day to all the mommies!

Hello Prekindergarten families!

We have been busy with our letter of the day and number of the day worksheets.  we have been learning about a couple tricky shapes like the hexagon, octagon, and pentagon because the other shapes are too easy for us!  We have learned a new nursey rhyme for some, "Hey diddle diddle" and have been doing worksheets about the rhyme.  it has become one of their favorites as we have made little paper puppets to act out the nursery rhyme!  we have began to have science fridays!  our first experiment was finding out if something sinks or floats.  We first made predictions and then did our experiment and recorded all our results.  The kids were so involved and excited, we just gotta do this every Friday!

Days to remember:

March 18   in-service  No school
March 28- April 1   Spring break   No school

And it looks like warmer weather is on its way!
That's it for now!

     Hello families of Prekindergarten!

Welcome back!  I sure missed everyone over the holidays...and hope everyone had a safe and happy holiday.  Back to school means back to work, and back to playing with our friends.  Since getting back we've started to go through our alphabet again with uppercase and lowercase.  We have gotten too good at the basic 5 shapes so have had to add pentagons, trapezoids, hexagons, and octagons to the mix!  Very impressive kiddos!  We continue to keep up with our scissor skills, gluing, and printing.  The past few classes we have been learning about arctic animals, how they stay warm, and what they eat. We have made some of these animals during our crafting time.....they are extra cute!

Stay Warm ! ! !

Hello Prekindergarten Families!
We have entered into the month of December.  We had such a busy November.  We have continued to practice our letters with sounds, counting up to 20, and trying to recognize the numbers without being in order.  Days of the week, colors, and learning new shapes are a part of our learning each class day.  Since the weather has gotten colder and there is snow now, we have been talking about how to stay healthy and what keeps us warm.  We have also started to practice putting on our own ski pants, and boots, and trying to zip up our own coats!

December 1st we sang our hearts out for the taping of our Christmas song for the St. Gerard Christmas concert.  It will be available on Youtube December 16.  There will be a link for our families to view all the wonderful performances.  I am so proud of our class.  I can't wait for it to be viewed!  The kids have shown such an excitement for Advent and Christmas.  We have been singing Christmas carols while crafting, and truly getting into the true Christmas spirit.

To make sure everything is fresh and clean in January I will be sending their work home from the past few months.  Some of it may be unfinished, or not completed because of days missed, so not to worry.  The kiddies can do them on their holidays if they get bored!  😄

Stay safe and warm!  I will post once more before the last day of school!

Blessings to you all and may your hearts be filled with joy, happiness, and cheer during this exciting month!

Welcome Pre-K families!

We have made it through our first month of school!  I am so proud of our little class.  Everyone is showing such enthusiasm and an eagerness to learn.  We've been going over rules of the classroom and how to be good friends to each other.  We are learning how to be good listeners, how to be safe, how to follow directions, and learning each others names!

We have been working hard right from the get go!  Each day we go over letters, numbers, shapes, colors, and days of the week.  Ask your child to recite our days of the week song...they start the song for me now because they love it so much!  We've been developing our scissor skills, practicing holding our pencil, and learning how to use glue sticks.  It's unbelievable how well they can follow directions when it comes to our work and doing crafts.  We also started doing name recognition and practiced printing our names.

Seeing how this first month has gone, I know we are gonna have a great school year!

Thanksgiving is October 11th this year.  I am so thankful to be your teacher and feel I am truly blessed to be here.  We will be doing some Thanksgiving crafts, and discussing the holiday in class this month.

March 2021

Spring is coming. Let us look forward to more beautiful days.

The Pre-kindergartens are always looking forward to this season and we are excited about it. Certainly, the year is going by so fast. And the students in Pre-K are really growing up so fast just like the trees and flowers - soon they will have branches full of leaves and flowers. And just like the bees in the garden, the Pre-k's are keeping themselves busy. They are growing up so quickly and before you know it, they will be ready and off to Kindergarten.

Here is what has been happening in Pre-K:

They are going over their alphabet - uppercase and lowercase. They are learning to write both letters. They are also continuously learning the letters of their name. They have been practicing answering the questions with Yes and No. They will continue reviewing letters, numbers, shapes, patterns, alongside with the tracing, writing, coloring, cutting, and gluing. They also do crafts for different seasons or occasions.

This month we will be looking at the season of Spring. We might also be doing St. Patrick’s Day activities and learn what the season of Lent is.

We are continuously making our school and our students safe and healthy. Continue to wash hands, hand sanitize and social distance. Don't come to school when feeling unwell.

I hope everyone will have a blessed Lenten season. Here are some days to remember:

Friday, March 19 – In-Service NO SCHOOL

Monday March 29 - Friday April 2 – Spring Break

Wednesday April 7 - Classes Resume for Pre-Kindergarten

Take care always.
